New Doorway

So today we made the new door way. Well, when I say 'we', I really mean the man with the Muscles aka George.. spent a day in and out of flooding rain, creating our restaurant door.. a work in progress, as we wait for the rain to stop!
He has a pizza oven oven to build and a few other big jobs!

Get our Card

Here's our new business card- I designed it myself, so obviously pretty pleased with the look, we have chosen these  colours to be a running theme at Moorish. This blue covers our little kitchen wall.  and the skirting on our outer wall. The main design is inspired by Spanish doily.

This is side 'b' of our business card, this pantone yellow colour adorns our entrance and dining room.. though, not as strong a yellow.. we chose Mimosa yellow...so shall we say a little more mellow and rich. EEK just spotted a mistake, that I am going to swiftly sort out, before I send to print!!!...always helps to triple check!
We've gone with Solopress, which is actually an add on my blog, really recommend if you are comfortable using photoshop. We did really want Moo photo cards, but at 32p each that's quite an extravagance! These cards worked out at 3.5 p each, and a selection of gorgeous finishes, sustainably sourced..we've gone for a pulped texture feel, as we though it would complement our eatery's style. Let's see how they go!.. free express printing.. so should be here on Wednesday!! whoa that's fast! Plus orderng and pricing was so much easier than any other website I've been on... thank goodness!

Witness the Totness

So we went to Totness on Saturday, on a sort of eating hunt.. had some super Louis the XVI hot liquid chocolate with cold cream, delicious.. and very rich, lovely service at La Forchette. I love the way the holt and cold worked, like the sensation of cold water into hot bath.. George however wasn't so impressed but he is a coffee man.
Also as always great tea selection at our regular tea haunt, (I had Black dragon).. plentiful wedges of delicious cake and hot toasted crumpets where fab at Greys Tea room..(yes non of these are authentic Moorish eateries).. though, it still counts as research!- I hope.. Oh well. Eating it was part of the fun!

Barista training

So in conjunction with Cafe Latino, we are being retrained in the art of coffee by the top 'dude' of  barista tarining. I've ready done this twice before,so a fresh mind is required, now a chance for the real art of Coffee to take form and the detail to be celebrated, let's hope my artistic side takes hold and great coffee art is created!

Rainy Road

So today up early-ish... On our way to Totness, not one of those sunny days where you plan to soak in the miasma and british scene of the Devon Riviera. A gloomy and utterly misty day on the hunt for little and large trinkets. Of. Purse you cannot come all the way to Totness without a visit to the most charming tea room 'Earl Greys', it is by far the only place to drink tea and eat cake, they do it so well here, last time I had lotus and rose tea which was ethereal!
Hot toasted crumpets which came encased in a little silver topper to keep them warm,(haven't a clue what the name of this marvelous industrious invention is ). I felt like I was going back in time, utterly glorious, there is so much to look at, including a huge selection of fabulous cakes... I could write all day about this place and probably spend all day eating and drinking there too! Let's see what we find in town. Speak soon!

Moor Stuff!

So yesterday we got our triple front drinks fridge from the auction house, after missing out on a few essentials, we are slowly coming together more and well 'moor'. Our serving counter and display wall is almost finished just a few last adjustments to make and some painting downstairs. Upstairs we have a beautiful orange feature wall. Next up we have to finnish making the counter bar, so you can sit and drink cocktails or coffee depending on the time! Some nice recycled tin lanterns to settle place aglow on gloomy days and dusky evenings.
